Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow is an upcoming anime film of the multimedia project developed by Kadokawa’s ASCII Media Works, music label Lantis, and animation studio Sunrise.

The Love Live! Sunshine!! project started in February 2015, with the first season of the anime series ran in July 2016, and second season aired in October last year.

The staff from the television anime adaptations, including director Kazuo Sakai, scriptwriter Jukki Hanada and character designer Yuhei Murota, will return to work on the upcoming film.

The Japanese voice cast will be lead by Anju Inami as “Chika Takami”, Shuka Saito as “You Watanabe”, Rikako Aida as “Riko Sakurauchi”, Arisa Komiya as “Dia Kurosawa”, Nanaka Suwa as “Kanan Matsura”, Aina Suzuki as “Mari Ohara”, Aika Kobayashi as “Yoshiko Tsushima”, Ai Furihata as “Ruby Kurosawa” and Kanako Takatsuki as “Hanamaru Kunikida”.

The film is scheduled to open in Japanese cinemas on January 4, 2019, which will feature a brand new story, not a compilation of the series.

The now-defunct Filipino-language anime channel HEROtv previously aired the first season of the anime series in November 2017.
