Filipino-Japanese singer and voice actress Megumi Nakajima

Events organizer Cosplay.ph has announced in a Facebook post on Monday that singer and voice actress Megumi Nakajima will be one of the special guest in this year’s Cosplay Mania.

She will also perform at the JAM Concert, which happens during the evening hour of the event.

Megumi Nakajima is a Filipino-Japanese singer and voice actress known for portraying the role of Ranka Lee in the popular mecha anime Macross Frontier, a role she auditioned and won in Victor Entertainment’s “Victor Vocal & Voice Audition” competition in 2007.

She released her first single “Seikan Hikou” as Ranka Lee in 2008, which topped at Number 5 in Oricon’s singles category and Number 2 in the albums chart. She also won Best Musical Performance in the 3rd Seiyuu Awards the following year for her performance of the song in the anime series.

 

Since then, Nakajima had performed theme songs for anime series like “One Way Ryo Omoi” (with Marina Inoue) for Kämpfer, “Jellyfish’s Confession” and “Watashi ni Dekiru Koto” for Kobato, “Sonna Koto Ura no Mata Urabanashi Desho?” for Kotoura-san, and “Watashi no Sekai” for Fuuka among others.

Most recently, she had performed “Saturday Night Question”, which was used as the opening theme song for the romantic comedy anime Recovery of an MMO Junkie.

 

After Macross Frontier, Nakajima had portrayed several voice acting roles in Japanese anime series, including Akikan! (as Miku), Kämpfer (as Kaede Sakura), Lagrange – The Flower of Rin-ne (as Grania), Aquarion Evol (as Sazanka Bianca), and Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East S2 (as Hinaginu Inumura) among others.

She had recently voiced the character “Luna” in the action-fantasy anime series Record of Grancrest War.

 

Nakajima will be in addition to previously announced special guests, stage actors Hiroki Ino & Kosuke Asuma, and voice actors Chiharu Sawashiro & Shunsuke Takeuchi, as well as JAM Concert performers fhánaZwei, and AiRi.
