Event organizer Cosplay.ph has announced on Thursday that the Japanese rock duo Zwei will perform in the Philippines for the first time at this year’s Cosplay Mania.
They are the second special guests announced under the event’s JAM (Japanese Anime Music) concert banner, following the Japanese pop band fhána.
More performers and special guests for the two-day event are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Zwei is a rock duo composed of Megumi Ueno on bass, and Ayumu on vocals. The name is a German word that translates to “Two”, which emphasizes that the group is composed of two members.
The group was formed in 2003 under the entertainment company VAP, Inc., where they released their debut single “Movie Star” in May of the same year. After a short stint at Universal Music in 2007, the duo joined 5pb. (now Mages Inc.) in 2010, and eventually started performing music for video games developed by the company.
In 2012, they performed the opening music for the Robotics;Notes video game, and eventually sung the opening theme of its anime adaptation.
Aside from Robotics;Notes, Zwei also performed “My Own Life” as the ending theme for the 2016 anime series Soul Buster, and “Red Zone” as the first ending theme for the 2016 anime series Terraformars Revenge.
The group’s latest single “Last Game” is currently the ending theme song for anime adaptation of Steins;Gate 0, the spin-off of the popular video game and anime series Steins;Gate.
Cosplay.ph initially announced their guest cosplayers last March, which are Emperor and Astarohime from Russia, Hakken from Malaysia, and Ola Aphrodite from Indonesia.
The organizers also announced that Japanese stage actors Hiroki Ino and Kosuke Asuma will be a part their flagship event as special guests.
More special guests for their annual flagship event are expected to be announced in the coming days.
