Tribe, the over-the-top (OTT) streaming service owned by Malaysian pay-TV provider Astro, has announced on Monday that the streaming of Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia will only last until the end of May.
The service informed their users in the Philippines that both Live stream and Video on-demand service will be removed from the app, but the service is expected to continue for Indonesian users and through Astro Go in Malaysia.
Anime Pilipinas has tried to contact Tribe Philippines representatives for comment but offered no response.
At the moment, there is also no word from PlusMedia Networks if they plan to distribute their anime channel through another OTT platform.
Tribe was launched in the Philippines on November 2016, and was the first service to offer the anime channel ANIPLUS Asia in the country, together with Korean entertainment channels K-Plus and tvN Asia, and e-Sports channel eGG Network.
The streaming service initially have set of titles available on-demand, but eventually added simulcast titles every season starting March the following year.
