The band rose to the mainstream music scene when the song “The Beginning” was picked to be the theme song of the highly-popular Rurouni Kenshin live-action movie in 2012.

Their songs “Mighty Long Fall” and “Heartache” were also picked as the theme for the live-action movie’s sequels, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends respectively, in 2014.

Since then, ONE OK ROCK have received international success with collaboration with Western rock groups such as Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, All Time Low, and Linkin Park.

The group was supposed to be a part of Linkin Park’s One More Light tour in North America and Japan as the opening act, but the North America shows had been cancelled because of vocalist Chester Bennington’s death in July. As of press time, the Japan tour dates is still listed on the band’s website.

The band are currently signed with Japanese music label A-Sketch, which is a subsidiary of Amuse Inc., and American music label Fueled by Ramen, which one of the music labels of Warner Music.

They had recently released their eighth album, “Ambitions”, last January. Currently, they are on their “AMBITIONS World Tour 2017”, performing in the United Kingdom, Russia, South America, and Australia, which is set to be followed by their European Tour in December.

They have previously performed in Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, for the first time in 2016 for their “35xxxv Asia Tour”.
