Southeast Asian anime channel ANIMAX Asia has announced on Tuesday that the second season of the popular JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime series will premiere this September.

It’s 1987. Seventeen-year-old Jotaro Kujo is haunted by a ghost-like entity to which his grandfather, Joseph Joestar, explains that it is a special power known as “Stand”, that physically manifests its user’s spirit and can be controlled by its user at will. The revival of the Joestar family’s nemesis, Dio, triggers the awakening of Stands down the Joestar family line and puts Jotaro’s mother in danger. Jotaro, Joseph and their allies have only fifty days to locate and eliminate Dio in order to save Jotaro’s mother and prevent Dio’s ambitions of world domination. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders is the anime adaptation of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga’s third story arc, composed of Volumes 12-28, which was written by Hirohiko Araki in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1989 to 1992.

The anime adaptation was directed by Kenichi Suzuki, who also directed the anime series Drifters, together with planetarian director Naokatsu Tsuda. Shakugan no Shana scriptwriter Yasuko Kobayashi handled the series composition, and Masahiko Komino worked on the show’s character designs. The anime was produced by David Production.

The Japanese voice cast are lead by Daisuke Ono (“Sebastian Michaelis”, Black Butler) as “Jotaro Kujo”, Unsho Ishizuka (“Quent Yaiden”, Wolf’s Rain) as “Joseph Joestar”, and Takehito Koyasu (“Ryousuke Takahashi”, Initial D) as “Dio”.

 

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders premiere on Friday, September 8, airing Every Wednesday to Friday nights at 10:00pm (09:00pm JKT/BKK). Two episodes back-to-back.
