High School of the Dead fans would not be able see the continuation of the manga anymore as Daisuke Sato, its creator, had passed away. He was 52 years old.
According to reports, he succumbed to an ischemic heart disease on Wednesday, March 22.
A funeral service was held for Sato by his immediate family, with Yuko Shinmyo serving as the chief mourner. Shinmyo was Sato’s younger sister.
Daisuke Sato was a Japanese novel author and manga creator, notable for his works such as Highschool of the Dead with illustrator Shoji Sato and Imperial Guards with Yu Ito.
Highschool of the Dead ranked Number 2 in the New York Times Manga Best Seller List in October 2011 and has been in and out of the Top 10 in the following years. The manga has been on a hiatus since 2011.
Aside from those, he was also a game designer who penned various games including Red Sun Black Cross.
In Japan, the news of his death had made to Twitter’s trending list on Sunday with fans expressing their grief for the author’s untimely passing.
