Philippine Movie distributor Pioneer Films has posted on their Facebook page on Thursday that the premiere date of Makoto Shinkai’s your name. (Kimi no Na wa.) is now considered as tentative.

The movie distributor previously announced the highly-popular anime film is set to premiere in local cinemas on Wednesday, December 14.

The movie distributor cites the Metro Manila Film Festival as the reason for the changes on the movie’s premiere.

Metro Manila Film Festival, also known as the MMFF, is an annual film festival focused on Filipino-made films, where movies selected by jurors will be the only films be screened in cinemas.

MMFF runs from December 25 (Christmas Day) until the first week of January. No foreign films will be allowed to be screened during that period, except in 3-D and IMAX theaters.

A representative of Pioneer Films also told Anime Pilipinas theater availability is also becoming an issue, with “blockbuster” foreign and local movie releases be given priority by movie houses.

Local cinemas recently released Filipino comedy films like “Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers” and “Super Parental Guardians”, while Star Wars prequel Rogue One is set to be released on Thursday, December 15.

The distributor asks movie goers to contact their local cinema houses for updates regarding the movie.
