
The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines has announced on Friday they will be bringing back the popular idol group AKB48 sub-unit Team 8 to Manila this December.
12 of the of the idol group’s sub-unit will perform in a musical event co-organized with Hallohallo Entertainment, Inc. on Sunday, December 4 at the Market!Market! Activity Center in Taguig City, free of charge.
The 12 members that will perform on this event are Hijiri Tanikawa, Nanami Sato, Rin Okabe, Maria Shimizu, Ayane Takahashi, Nanase Yoshikawa, Serika Nagano, Kotone Hitomi, Riona Hamamatsu, Yurina Gyoten, Rena Fukuchi, and Karin Shimoaoki.
Okabe, Yoshikawa, Hamamatsu, Gyoten and Fukuchi performed at the “Cool Japan Festival” event last year.
The idol group had launched a Manila-based sister group called MNL48 earlier this year, alongside foreign spin-off groups from Bangkok and Taipei.
It is not yet known if full details regarding the upcoming sister group will be announced at the event.
This free event will be in conjunction to the 60th anniversary celebration of the Philippines-Japan friendship.
Hallohallo Entertainment, Inc. previously organized the “Cool Japan Festival” in November 2015 where the AKB48 sub-unit Team 8 performed for the very first time in the country.
