Philippine terrestrial broadcaster ABS-CBN has announced during Game 1 of the NBA Finals last Friday that the third season of the popular sports anime Kuroko’s Basketball is set to have its channel premiere on Monday, June 20.
Kuroko’s Basketball S3 will air Monday to Friday mornings at 09:00am, replacing Naruto Shippuden Season 8.
The show’s premiere date is still tentative, because it will depend if the NBA Finals game will have a Game 7, which will be played on June 20 (Philippine time). If Game 7 pushes through, the show’s premiere will now be on Tuesday, June 21.
Seirin High School makes it into the semifinals of the Winter Cup. They defeated Toô Gakuen, featuring Aomine, and Yosen, featuring Murasakibara, both from the “Generation of Miracles,” causing Seirin to be one of the more noticed schools. They firm their resolve towards the semifinals. Kagami, nudged by Kuroko, heads outside of the tournament building in order to reconcile with Himuro, but sees a guy picking a fight with Himuro and Alex, steps in to help them.
That guy is Shogo Haizaki of Fukuda Sogo Gakuen. He is a graduate of Teiko Junior High, and he was supposedly a regular player in the first-string team before Kise joined… (Synopsis from Anime Consortium Japan)
This will be the third anime adaptation of the popular Japanese sports manga series, which was written & illustrated by Tadatoshi Fujimaki.
Director Shunsuke Tada and Scriptwriter Noburo Takagi reprised their roles in the anime series, which was once again produced by Production I.G. Kensho Ono (as Tetsuya Kuroko) and Yuuki Ono (as Taiga Kagami) returns to lead the anime’s voice casts.
As with other shows that was previously aired on the timeslot, the third season of Kuroko’s Basketball will not be airing on select ABS-CBN provincial stations to give way for their regional programming.
The third season of the popular anime had its Philippine premiere on anime channel HEROtv, which is also the sister network of the terrestrial channel, last December. The previous seasons of the anime was first aired on ABS-CBN, which was followed by the anime channel a few months later.
