SOZO Pte. Ltd., the organizers of the highly-popular event Anime Festival Asia, has revealed on Wednesday the dates of its flagship event, which will be held in three (3) cities across Southeast Asia.
For this year, the event has been dubbed as “AFA 2016 – Regional Circuit” and introduced a brand new art for their mascot, Seika.
The first leg of the event will be held in Thailand on August 19-21 at the Siam Paragon in Bangkok, the second leg will be in Indonesia on September 16-18 at the Jakarta International Expo, and the final leg in Singapore on November 25 to 27 at the Suntec Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Details regarding ticketing information, guests and other important information will be released in the following months.
Anime Festival Asia has been touted as the region’s largest anime convention outside Japan, which started in 2008, with more than 90,000 people coming over at their flagship event in Singapore. The event has expanded to Indonesia in 2012 and Thailand in 2015.
AFA’s Marquee segments are the I Love Anisong concerts, which featured performances from FLOW, LiSA, GRANRODEO and May’n among others, and the Asian Regional Cosplay Championships (ARCC),
Cosplay.ph is the local event partner in the Philippines, where its flagship event Cosplay Mania is the country’s official selection to the ARCC. Last year, Team Ban×Kai won third place in the regional competition, while Team Kanor Cubes took home second place in 2014.
