The organizers of AsiaPOP Comicon Manila has posted a teaser photo, which confirms that the pop-culture event will have second installment this year.
No details had been announced has been made regarding the date & venue of the event, but sources tell Anime Pilipinas that they event is set to take place this coming August at a new venue.
The August date will be a month before the highly-popular Manila International Book Fair, organized by Primetrade Asia, which is happening on September 14-18. Both events happened on the same weekend last year.
The AsiaPOP Comicon (APCC) is a pop-culture convention that is “themed around comics, film, toys and collectibles, animation, games, cosplay, superheroes and everything pop-culture”. The first event was held on September 17 to 20 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Guests for their first event included Paul Bettany (Jarvis and Vision from Avengers), Jeremy Shada (Finn of Adventure Time) and his band Make Out Monday were among the international guests who arrived in Manila for the extravaganza. Alodia Gosiengfiao and Linda Le (also known as Vampy Bit Me) were some of the the cosplay guests in attendance.
One of the main segments of APCC is the Cosplay Authority Global Challenge (CAGE), where the winner will receive a prize payout of USD10,000. The first APCC CAGE winner was Guy Singzon.
APCC is organized by Universal Events and Entertainment, a Singapore-headquartered company under the Al-Ahli Holding Group, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
APCC is also scheduled to take place in South Korea, happening this June 10-12, and in Abu Dhabi, which is set to take place during the fourth quarter of this year.
