Team Italy gets 2nd place, while United States places third.


Saturday has been an amazing day for cosplay as Team Mexico emerged victorious in the World Cosplay Summit 2015, beating 25 other nations, including first time competitors Team Philippines in Nagoya, Japan.

Team Twin, composed of Juan Carlos Bodoque and Shema Arroyo from Toluca City, Mexico, portrayed characters from the popular video game Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. The winning team also bagged the Niconico viewer’s choice award.

“Thank you México we made it!!! 1st place!!!!! OMG!!!!!!”, the team posted this message on their Facebook page late Saturday night.

The second place goes to Team Italy, who portayed a skit from the popular anime series Tiger and Bunny, while Team U.S.A., who cosplayed characters from Paradise Kiss, bagged 3rd place.

The competition also gave special awards, like the Cyperous award for the Best Wig, Joysound award for the Best Soundtrack, Brother award for the Best Costume, Livedam award for the Best Performance, H.I.S. award for the Most Exciting Moment on Stage, and Moviebook Indies award for Fidelity Award.

Meanwhile, Team Philippines has wowed the audience in Nagoya with their performance from the popular video game Dynasty Warriors.

The duo composed of Jennifer Ong and Sarah Jane de Ocampo got about 63 percent during the online voting after their performance, which was streamed live on Niconico.
