Cinemas by Shochiku, which is celebrating their 120th anniversary, has posted their upcoming films for 2015-2016 on their website, and it include the listing for the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular music idol anime Love Live! School Idol Project.
The movie, tentatively titled as “Gekijō-ban Love Live!” (Love Live! the Movie), is reported to be screened in Early Summer of this year.
The listing also included a tagline, which says “Please! Fulfill our dream…” (叶え！私たちの夢―。)
At the final episode of Love Live! School Idol Project’s second season last June, it was announced that a movie adaptation of the popular franchise is now in production.
Nikkei MJ newspaper also reported last August that the movie adaptation was initially set to premiere in Spring 2015.
Love Live! School Idol Project is a Japanese multimedia project co-produced by Dengeki G’s magazine of ASCII Media Works, music label Lantis, and animation studio Sunrise. The series was launched in 2010, which was described as a “ultimate user-participation project” which lets fans vote on the future of the fictional idols.
The project had released several albums & music videos, and was adapted into anime, manga & video games.
The first season of the anime aired in Japan on January 2013, while the second season was aired in April 2014.
Takahiko Kyougoku, who worked on titles like InuYasha: The Final Act, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, and Phi-Brain: Puzzle of God, directed the anime series, while Jukki Hanada, who is the scriptwriter for popular titles like Chobits and Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!, handled the script composition.
The first season was aired on Hello Japan! channel in Singapore on August 2013 and on Filipino-language anime channel HEROtv last February.
The second season was also aired on Hello Japan! channel on a “same-week as Japan” basis, while the Filipino-language anime channel has announced that it is set to premiere within this year.
