HEROtv reveals program line-up for the New Year

Filipino-language anime channel set to introduce a new look for their 10th anniversary.

Filipino-language anime channel HEROtv has revealed through a television advertisement this week their program line-up this coming 2015.

New titles premiering this year include One Week Friends, Initial D: Fifth Stage, Haikyuu!!, Nobunaga the Fool, and the anime movie Towanoquon.

 

One Week Friends

One Week Friends (Isshuukan Friends) is an anime adaptation of a Japanese manga series by Matcha Hazuki, which is being serialized on Square Enix’s Gangan Joker magazine since January 2012, and is set to end this January 2015. It currently has six (6) volumes.

The anime adaptation was directed by Taoru Iwasaki, who also worked on titles like Fullmetal Alchemist, Eden of the East, and Star Driver, while My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU! scriptwriter Shotaro Suga supervised the scripts, and character designs were made by Eri Yamazaki, who also worked on titles like My Little Monster and Squid Girl. The series is produced by anime studio Brain’s Base.

The storyline of Fifth Stage is based off the manga of the same name and takes place directly after the events of Fourth Stage. Here we see Project D is setting up to take on the rest of Kanagawa in its final phase to become the king of the downhill/uphill outside of their prefecture. The name of the game is still to capture every single time attack record in Japan and Project D is inching ever so closer to that reality. Project D faces its hardest challengers yet, and must use all of the skills they have acquired to overcome their rivals. (Synopsis from MyAnimeList.net)

Initial D: Fifth Stage is the ninth anime adaptation of the popular street-racing manga series, which was written and illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno, and had been serialized on Kodansha’s Young Magazine from 1995 to 2013. The manga has a total of 48 tankoubon volumes.

Mitsuo Hashimoto, who worked on several Dragon Ball projects, directed the anime series and character designs had been made by Masaki Sato and Toshiyuki Komaru.

Shoyo Hinata began playing volleyball after seeing the “small giants” who played the sport when he was in elementary school. He suffers a crushing defeat in his first and last tournament in middle school at the hands of his rival Tobio Kageyama. So, Hinata joins Kurasuno High School’s volleyball team, vowing revenge against Kageyama. However, Kageyama is also on Kurasuno’s team. The former rivals form a legendary combo with Hinata’s mobility and Kageyama’s precision ball-handling. Haikyu!! is a Japanese anime adaptation of a manga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, which is currently being serialized on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since February 2012, and currently has 14 volumes.

The anime adaptation was directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also directed the comedy anime Cuticle Detective Inaba, while scripts were written by Taku Kishimoto, who is also the scriptwriter for Silver Spoon and Bunny Drop, and character designs were made by Takahiro Kishida, who also worked on popular titles like Durarara!!, Btooom!!, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

The series has been produced by renowned anime studio Production I.G., and is set to have a second season.

 

Nobunaga the Fool

Nobunaga the Fool is a Japanese anime series that is a part of “The Fool” franchise by renowned anime creator & scriptwriter Shoji Kawamori, who also wrote the anime series.

The sci-fi action anime series has been directed by Eiichi Sato, who also worked on anime titles like Slayers NEXT and Arjuna, while Hirotaka Marofuji adapted Yone Kazuki’s character designs. The anime has been produced by anime studio Satelight.

 

Towanoquon

Towanoquon is a six-part sci-fi animated film directed by Umanosuke Iida, while Toshizo Nemoto handled it’s series composition, and character designs were made by Toshihiro Kawamoto. The film was produced by the popular anime studio BONES.

Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endyumion no Kiseki and A Certain Scientific Railgun S is also set to premiere next year, as well as new seasons of popular anime titles, like Love Live! School Idol Project S2, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei!, and Hakuoki.

 

The anime channel is also set to launch a new channel identity, which includes a new logo and graphics, which will be in conjuction to their 10th year anniversary.

HEROtv was launched in August 02, 2005 as a part of Creative Programs, Inc., which is a subsidiary of the terrestrial network ABS-CBN.
