The organizers of the highly-popular Anime Festival Asia has announced that eight (8) anime titles will be featured throughout the three-day event.
The featured titles for this year are “Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works”, “No Game, No Life”, “Sword Art Online II”, “Noragami”, “The iDOLM@STER”, “Knights of Sidonia”, “K: Missing Kings”, and “Psycho-Pass 2”.
Fate/stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
This story focuses primarily on the heroine Rin Tohsaka. After her father’s death, Rin enters the Holy Grail War as the sole heir to the prestigious Tohsaka Household, with her servant Archer. But, she soon finds out that Shirou Emiya, a boy from her high school has gotten himself involved in the battles and unexpectedly saves him when he is fatally injured. Before long, Rin sets out to strike down the conspiracies surrounding the Holy Grail War along with Shirou and his summoned servant Saber. And so, the story begins to explore the truth behind Shirou’s powers and the nature behind his unyielding will to become a “hero.” (Synopsis from Anime Festival Asia)
The event is set to have Ayako Kawasumi, who voiced the servant “Saber”, and producer Atsuhiro Iwakami on the main stage.
No Game, No Life
Genius gamer siblings (plus being NEET & hikikomori) Sora and Shiro are known as the undefeatable “__” (blank). Their talents and skills are so good they are considered as urban legend. One day, a young boy named Teto appears before them, claiming to be the “God” of another dimension where Sora and Shiro are summoned to, in which no violence is allowed and everything is decided by a game. Of the 16 different races residing in this world, “Humanity” is the weakest. After having the vast majority of their lands captured by the other races and being driven to the brink of extinction, Sora and Shiro challenge these one-of-a-kind battles of the intellectual powers in order to save Humanity. The event is set to have director Atsuko Ishizuka, screenwriter Jukki Hanada, and Sho Tanaka of Media Factory on the main stage.
Sword Art Online II
One year after the SAO incident was resolved, Kazuto Kirigaya is adjusting to a normal life once again as best he can. He thinks all that death is finally behind him, until he is approached with some startling information. In the wildly popular pro shooter MMO Gun Gale Online, an ominous player has shot players in the game, and the same players mysteriously turned up dead in real life. Kazuto feels himself being pulled in as if by the shadow of SAO and agrees to investigate. He must now tread back into the dark world of his past with the help of the troubled, ice-cold sniper Shinon as he searches for the player who only refers to himself as “Death Gun.” (Synopsis from Anime News Network)
The event is set to have voice actor Yushigutsu Matsuoka, who voiced the lead character “Kirito”, and producer Shinichiro Kashiwada on the main stage.
The iDOLM@STER
13 girls, each with a different personality, are under the management of entertainment company “765 Production”. It is a story depicting each girl working hard to grow and achieve their own dreams through their activities. Dream big! The aim is to be a Top Idol! (Synopsis from Anime Festival Asia)
The event is set to have Manami Numakura, who voiced “Hibiki Ganaha”, Asami Imai, who voiced “Chihaya Kisaragi”, and Yumi Hara who voiced “Takane Shijou” on the main stage. The three are also set to perform on the I Love Anisong Mega Music Festival at the event.
Noragami
Yato is a minor deity who lacks even a single shrine. In order to build his own shrine, he scrawls his cell number on the wall of a downtown bathroom telling people he will help them in exchange for a 5-yen offering, becoming a self-styled “delivery god.” Hiyori, the daughter of a respectable family, is almost in a traffic accident, but is rescued by Yato. This causes her to become a “hanyou,” a person who can easily lose her soul. She chases Yato down, and they begin to work together. Yato also finds a boy named Yukine who becomes a “sacred treasure” that can be used by a god. The three of them battle “you” who bring harm to humans as Yato’s hidden history is gradually revealed. Knights of Sidonia
Sidonia is the last known human settlement flying through space to escape the Gauna, gigantic alien monsters bent on its destruction. Sidonia has it’s own giant Guardians, piloted by their very best pilots, synthetic humans who are constantly training to be the best. Tanikaze Nagate has been living in Sidonia’s underground layer since birth, training on an old Guardian simulator until his grandfather passed away. Now, rejoining the synthetic humans, will he be able to protect Sidonia from the evolving Guana. (Synopsis from ANIPLUS HD)
The event is set to have voice actresses Hisako Kanemoto, who voiced the character “Yuhata Midorikawa”, and Satomi Arai, who voiced the character “Lala Hiyama”, on the main stage.
K: Missing Kings
The “Academy Island Incident” in which all four “kings” cross paths… Since then, Silver Clansmen Kuroh Yatogami and Neko have been searching for their master, Shiro. Without finding any clues to Shiro’s whereabouts, the two became disheartened. However, one day, they see HOMRA members Rikio Kamamoto and Anna Kushina being chased by someone. The event is set to have voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda, who voiced the character “Mikoto Suoh”, and popular voice actress Yui Horie, who voiced the character “Anna Kushina”, on the main stage.
PSYCHO-PASS 2
This series is set in the year 2113, where the Sibyl System is actively measuring a person’s mental state, personality, and the probability that a person will commit crimes, all through a “cymatic scan” of the brain. The resulting assessment is called a Psycho-Pass. When the probability of committing a crime – measured by the “Crime Coefficient” index – is too high in an individual, they are pursued and apprehended—with lethal force, if necessary.
The story centres on the team from the Crime Investigation Department of the Public Safety Bureau, who are tasked with managing crime in this world. (Synopsis from ANIPLUS HD)
The screening of the anime’s Episode 09, which will be the same week as Japan, will happen on the main stage. The static life-sized figure display of Akane Tsunemori, Shogo Makishima and Shinya Kogami, which were the same figures exhibited in “Dive to PSYCHO-PASS” event at Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo last Summer, will be featured on the exhibition grounds.
Anime Festival Asia 2014 will be held at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore from December 05-07, 2014, which is organized by Sozo Pte. Ltd., Zapp Live and Dentsu.
