The competition for the right to become the first ever official Philippine competitor for the World Cosplay Summit is heating up as the World Cosplay Summit Philippines (WCSPH) Committee has announced the date of the Qualifiers for the National Capital Region (NCR).

The qualifiers are set for December 14, 2014, during the Christmas Toy Fair event at Megatrade Hall 2 at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

This will be the first ever qualifiers for the Luzon region, and according to the official rules and regulations form of the WCSPH Committee, there will be other qualifiers in areas like Baguio City for the Northern Luzon Leg and Legazpi City for the Southern Luzon leg.

The Visayas legs are still being determined as of posting time, while the Mindano legs is being held at the Mindanao Cosplay Summit legs in Davao, Cagayan De Oro and General Santos City in conjunction with Ambox Events.

According to the rules and regulations dossier, The WCSPH qualifier is going to be a strict duo cosplay competition where a partner is required for the performances.

The rules also state that all qualifiers will be “Area-locked”, which means that only participants who live in the zone where the qualifiers are being held are only allowed to join in the qualifiers.

This disallows participants outside of the zones designated to join in another zonal qualifier. For example, A contestant whose area is in Baguio cannot join in the Legazpi and NCR legs and will only be allowed to join in the Baguio leg only.

This is the first time that the WCSPH Committee will carry out the “Area Lock” rule.

Possible participants should also be citizens of the Philippines. Foreigners with Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) cards may be able to join subject to specific provisions in the rules.

Participants’ costumes must be handmade as well, and will  also have to document the costume creation process via photographs, Video documentation is optional.

All other rules, regulations and other concerns, including the official entry forms, are available for  download on the World Cosplay Summit Philippines Facebook Page.
