Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, originally titled as Suisei no Gargantia, is an original anime series produced by renowned anime studio Production I.G.

While fighting an intense inter-galactic war, a mecha pilot was accidentally warped into a space-time neither he nor the computer of his mecha could recognize. After waking up from a long-time hibernation, he found himself trapped on a planet, with human residents talking in an unknown form of language, using inferior technologies, and — most shocking to him — naturally breathable air.(Synopsis from Anime News Network)

Kazuya Murata, who directed Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, both directed & created the concept together with Fate/Zero creator Gen Urobuchi, who also supervised the anime’s scripts. Hanaharu Naruko, who worked on the supernatural comedy manga Kamichu!, handled character designs.

The cast had been lead by Hisako Kanemoto (Ika Musume, Squid Girl) as Amy, and Kaito Ishikawa (Tsumugu Kihara, Nagi no Asakura) as Ledo.

The series was produced by renowned anime studio Production I.G., and premiered in Japan from April to June 2013.
