The final chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin live-action trilogy, The Legend Ends, earned PhP41.06 million in its first five days in Philippine theaters, according to figures released by the website Box Office Mojo.

 

To be exact, the film had a total gross of PhP41,058,345 (USD926,087) as it was screened in 156 cinemas from September 24 to 28, a slightly lower figure than the previous sequel Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno which earned PhP42.61 million (USD971,984) in its first five days.

Still, The Legend Ends went on to become the highest grossing movie in the Philippine box office within the said period, overtaking the Hollywood film The Maze Runner & local horror flick Maria, Leonora, Teresa.

 

Meanwhile, Box Office Mojo also says Kyoto Inferno earned more than PhP81.22 million ($1,827,401) during its entire run, which lasted until the day before the premiere of The Legend Ends.
