First two episodes of the new season to be screened this November. 


Knights of Sidonia, the anime series based on Tsutomu Nihei’s science-fiction space manga, has been renewed for it’s second season.

 

According to the 15-second teaser advertisement, which was aired right after the first season’s 12th episode, which was also uploaded on King Records’ YouTube account, the anime’s second season will be called Knights of Sidonia: War of the Ninth Planet (Sidonia no Kishi: Dai-kyuu Wakusei Seneki).

It is not yet known when it will air or the full cast will be reprising their roles for the second season, but the teaser announced that the first two episodes will be screened in a “premium” event slated for November 23.

Sidonia is the last known human settlement flying through space to escape the Gauna, gigantic alien monsters bent on its destruction. Sidonia has it’s own giant Guardians, piloted by their very best pilots, synthetic humans who are constantly training to be the best. Tanikaze Nagate has been living in Sidonia’s underground layer since birth, training on an old Guardian simulator until his grandfather passed away. Now, rejoining the synthetic humans, will he be able to protect Sidonia from the evolving Guana. (Synopsis from ANIPLUS Asia)

 

The streaming service Netflix will air the first season starting in July 04 in Original Japanese audio with English subtitles, as well as “dubbed local language dialogue” in all territories covered by the service. Netflix is currently available in North & South America, the Caribbean, and Selected European countries.

In Southeast Asia, ANIPLUS Asia airs the series in High-definition Every Wednesday nights at 09:30pm SGT (08:30pm JKT) as a same-month airing title, the first to air outside Japan.
