Chi ni Moeru Licorice to focus on manga’s Jack the Ripper arc.
Yana Toboso’s highly popular supernatural-mystery manga Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) is getting its third musical adaptation, titled Musical Kuroshitsuji ―Chi ni Moeru Licorice― (Licorice that Burns in the Ground).
The musical, which will be based from the manga’s Jack the Ripper arc, will run in Tokyo’s Roppongi Blue Theater from September 05 to 23, and in Osaka’s Umeda Arts Theater from October 02 to 05.
J-pop singer Yuya Matsushita will reprise his role as the butler Sebastian Michaelis, while the young master Ciel Phantomhive will be played by 13-year old Nayuta Fukuzaki.
The announcement of the new musical coincides with the upcoming premiere of Black Butler anime’s third season, Black Butler: Book of Circus, on July 10.
The first Black Butler musical Sono Shitsuji, Yuukou (That Butler, Friendship) ran in Tokyo in 2009, followed by Musical Kuroshitsuji ―The Most Beautiful DEATH in The World― in 2010.
