Anime fans in Iloilo City were in for a treat last January 17 as members of Tribu Paghidaet performed as Naruto Uzumaki and his “Kagebunshin” (or shadow clones) as part of the Pamukaw or Opening Salvo in this year’s Dinagyang Festival.

Almost 55 members of the dance troupe which came from La Paz National High School garbed the character’s Naruto Shippuden uniform as they showcased their ninja-inspired street dance routine in the city’s Freedom Grandstand.

The performance also featured a large effigy of Kurama, the nine-tailed demon fox which resides inside Naruto’s body.

You can watch their full performance below (it starts at 0:55), or watch it from another angle in this Facebook video.

The Dinagyang Festival is one of the many religious festivals held in January in honor of Santo Niño or the Child Jesus, with other similar fiestas held in Cebu, Kalibo, and the Tondo district in Manila.
