The Wind Rises - posterThe Wind Rises nominated for Best Animated Feature in 86th Oscars

Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animated film The Wind Rises is set to compete against The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Earnest and Celestine, and Frozen for the title of Best Animated Feature in the 86th Academy Awards.

This will be the third Oscar nomination for a Miyazaki film; his first one for Spirited Away won the said award in 2003.

The Wind Rises was also nominated for Best Animated Feature Film in this year’s Golden Globe Awards, but lost to The Great Beauty.

Kuroshitsuji fans, rejoice: a new anime season for the said series has been announced on the cover of Monthly G Fantasy magazine’s February issue.

This announcement coincides with the premiere of the live-action movie adaptation of Yana Toboso’s manga series in Japanese theaters this Saturday.

It has not been revealed yet whether the new season will feature an original story or adopt the manga’s storyline.

 

Digimon FusionDigimon Fusion to air on The CW’s Saturday morning block

Digimon Fusion, the sixth anime series in the Digimon franchise, will join Dragon Ball Z Kai and Yu-Gi-Oh! on The CW‘s Vortexx animation block starting January 25.

The series, which is licensed by Saban, is set to replace B-Daman Crossfire on its 10:30AM slot.

The CW is currently the only terrestrial TV network in the United States that includes anime shows in its programming lineup.
