Southeast Asian anime channel ANIPLUS Asia is set to premiere the mystery anime series TRICKSTER this January.
Boys’ Detective Team member Kensuke Hanasaki meets a mysterious boy named Yoshio Kobayashi, who has an undying body because of an “unidentified fog”. Kobayashi wishes his own death and refuses contact with others. Hanasaki takes an interest in him and invites him to join the team. Their encounter leads them to the criminal nicknamed the “Fiend with Twenty Faces”.
TRICKSTER is an anime series inspired by the detective novels of Edogawa Ranpo, which is produced by Shin-Ei Animation and TMS Entertainment.
The anime is directed by Masahiro Mukai, who also directed the Hyperdimension Neptunia anime series, while Tiger & Bunny scriptwriter Erika Yoshida handled the series composition and Shinya Yamada adapted the character designs by Pitch-Pit.
The Japanese voice cast are lead by Ryota Ohsaka (“Ryota Watari”, Your Lie in April) as “Kensuke Hanazaki”, Daiki Yamashita (“Hiro Shirosaki”, GLASSLIP) as “Yoshio Kobayashi” and Daisuke Ono (“Natsuhiko Azuma”, Norn9) as “Kogoro Akechi”.
TRICKSTER premieres on January 2, Monday to Sunday nights at 11:30pm (10:30pm JKT/BKK) for Episodes 1-14.
Episodes 15 onwards will air on a simulcast basis starting January 17, Every Tuesdays at 01:50am (12:50am JKT.BKK), just an hour after the Japanese telecast.
