After almost a year of qualifiers, a whole week of celebration and two days of competition, Team Indonesia has been crowned on Sunday the champion of World Cosplay Summit this year.

The Indonesian representatives Ryan Cyd and Frea Mai had portrayed characters from the game Trinity Blood, with Cyd as “Cain Knightlord” and Mai as “Seth Nightlord”.

This is the first time the Indonesian representatives had won the competition, previously reaching 3rd place in 2014. The duo had beaten 29 other teams from Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

The champions were also given two special awards, which are “Past Champions Award” and “Niconico award”, while the third placers were also given the special “Otamart Award”.

Team Japan was also given two special awards, which are “Daikoku Denki award” and “LiveDam award”, and Team Finland earned the “Brother award”.

World Cosplay Summit 2016 was the first year where the competition was separated for two days, with semi-finalists picked during the first day and the winner on the second day.

Initially, the organizers are supposed to pick only 16 teams for the Finals, but an “unspecified lapse” led to the inclusion of two additional teams, which led to 18 teams participating.

Team Starseeker, who are this year’s Philippine representatives to the competition, had been reached the finals.
