Anime Pilipinas has learned that theater chain SM Cinema is considering seven (7) Japanese movies to be shown in their cinemas this year.

According to a survey obtained by Anime Pilipinas from a representative of SM Cinema, they are considering to screen Assassination Classroom: Graduation live-action, Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, Crayon Shin-chan: Fast Asleep! Dreaming World Big Assault!, Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions, Wolf Girl and Black Prince live-action, One Piece Film: Gold and Death Note: Light Up the New World.

Assassination Classroom: Graduation

Assassination Classroom: Graduation is the second live-action movie adaptation of the popular manga series by Yusei Matsui, which was serialized on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from July 2012 to March 2016. The second movie, directed by Eiichiro Hasumi, follows the storyline of the first movie released last year.

The movie premiered in Japanese cinemas last March, which became number one on its opening weekend in Japan, with 544,641 admissions and JP¥639 million in gross sales.

The movie’s cast are lead by Ryosuke Yamada as “Nagisa Shiota” and Kazunari Ninomiya as “Koro-sensei”.

 

Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare

Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare is the 12th anime movie of the popular detective manga series by Gosho Aoyama, which was running since 1994.

The movie became number one in its first weekend on the Japanese box office, earning US$11.1 million in gross sales with 934,000 admissions in 348 cinemas, which eventually broke the previous record for the highest earning movie in its franchise by Detective Conan: Sunflowers Of Inferno for earning US$47 million after its three-week run.

Japanese voice cast are lead by Minami Takayama as “Conan Edogawa” and Wakana Yamazaki as “Ran Mori”.

 

Crayon Shin-chan: Fast Asleep! Dreaming World Big Assault!

Crayon Shin-chan: Fast Asleep! Dreaming World Big Assault! is the 24th anime movie adaptation of the popular slapstick comedy manga by the late Yoshito Usui. Wataru Takahashi, who directed the 22nd movie, has reprised his previous role with scripts written by Hitori Gekidan and Wataru Takahashi.

The anime movie premiered last April, which became second at the Japanese box office in its opening weekend with gross sales of US$3.7 million in 334 cinemas, a slightly better performance from the previous film.

Japanese voice cast is lead by Akiko Yajima as “Shinnosuke Nohara”, better known as “Shin-chan”.

 

Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions

Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions is the fourth anime movie adaptation of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, which will feature Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba as its main characters and an original story.

The film was released as a part of the 20th year celebration of Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, together with the airing of a remastered version of the anime series on TV Tokyo, which was screened last April.

Japanese voice cast are lead by Shunsuke Kazama as “Yugi Mutou”, and  Kenjiro Tsuda as “Seto Kaiba”.

 

Wolf Girl and Black Prince
オオカミ少女と黒王子

Wolf Girl and Black Prince is the live-action movie adaptation of a manga series by Ayuko Hatta, which ran on Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret magazine from 2011 to 2016. The live-action movie premiered in Japanese theaters last May 28.

The movie’s cast are lead by Fumi Nikaido as “Erika Shinohara” and Kento Yamazaki as “Kyouya Sata”.

 

One Piece Film: Gold

One Piece Film: Gold is the upcoming anime film based on the popular One Piece manga series by Eiichiro Oda, published by Shueisha on Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 1997.

The eighth film adaptation, which is scheduled to be released in Japanese theaters on July 23, will be directed by Hiroaki Miyamoto with screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa

The television anime’s main voice casts reprise their role on the latest film, including Mayumi Tanaka as “Monkey D. Luffy”, Hiroaki Hirata as “Sanji”, Akemi Okamura as “Nami” and Kazuya Nakai as “Roronoa Zoro”.

 

Death Note: Light Up the New World

Death Note: Light Up the New World is an upcoming live-action movie based on the popular manga Death Note, written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The new adaptation will be the sequel to the 2006 film, which is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 29.

The upcoming movie’s cast are lead by Masahiro Higashide as “Tsukuru Mishima”, Sosuke Ikematsu as “Ryuzaki” and Masaki Suda as “Yugi Shion”.
